It is with profound love and sadness that we announce the passing of Kelvin Sankersingh, who departed this life on February 11, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on September 24, 1950, in Trinidad and Tobago, Kelvin immigrated to Brooklyn, NY, at the age of 17. He traveled extensively but spent most of his life as a resident of Brentwood, NY.
Kelvin was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country with honor and carrying that sense of duty throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career with Verizon, where he worked diligently until his early retirement. A lifelong learner, Kelvin earned degrees in accounting and telecommunications, reflecting his studious nature and determination to better himself and secure his family’s future.
Beyond his accomplishments, Kelvin was known for his vibrant spirit. He loved to socialize, laugh, and truly enjoy life. He could often be found playing cards with friends, taking long drives, listening to music, or engaging in lively discussions about politics — a subject he followed closely because of his deep belief in fairness and equality.
One of his happiest places was Maracas Bay in Trinidad, where the sound of the waves, the warmth of the sun, and the rhythm of the island brought him peace. The beach, like Kelvin, was full of life — welcoming, warm, and impossible to forget.
He leaves behind his three daughters, Shani, Rachel, and Diandra; his six cherished grandchildren, Pavan, Shiven, Celeste, Camilla, Cam, and Leo; as well as his great-grandson, Everest. Kelvin is also survived by his siblings Felix, Ann-Marie and Lennox; and many extended family members and friends.
Kelvin was predeceased by his parents, Kimkaran (Sonny) Sankersingh and Joyce Sankersingh Ramlogan, and his brothers, Ronald and Robbie.
A funeral service will be held at Alexander Rothwell Funeral Home, 6447 Route 25A, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM EST. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY.
Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a repast at Ruggero’s Family-Style Restaurant, 5768 NY-25A, Suite Y.
Kelvin’s life was one of service, exploration, conviction, and joy. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
